[Niagara Falls, ON] Salam from Niagara Falls: Workshop + Discussion
October 19, 2025
MiCA is pleased to be hosting 'Salam from Niagara Falls', a workshop and discussion at the Niagara Falls Public Library!
Family photographs taken at Niagara Falls are a staple in many newcomer homes, often evoking newfound relationships to belonging and ‘home’ in Canada. But what can these photographs tell us about migration, displacement, and settler colonialism here? And more broadly, how can archival material like photographs support us in asking critical questions of history?
Join MiCA to discuss ‘home-making’ and the formations of Muslim communities in Southwest Ontario. Together, we will then use collaging to reflect on ongoing settler colonialism and find new ways to approach ‘belonging’ on this land.
**When: **Thursday November 6, 6-7PM
Where: Niagara Falls Public Library (4848 Victoria Ave, Niagara Falls, ON)
More info: Free! No previous art-making experience required! Collaging materials will provided!
